Good morning,

Respected Principal, Honorable Chief Guest, Teachers and my dear friends, Happy Independence Day to all.

I’m standing in front of you to deliver a speech on Independence Day. On this day of August 15th in 1947 we got independence from the British.

The freedom we are enjoying today is the result of decades of long struggle and sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. We should remember our great leaders like Subahas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Bal Gangadhar Tiak, Gandhi Ji, Jawaharlal Nehru any many others.

Today we are having freedom and we are enjoying several rights because of their sacrifices. Now it’s time to strengthen our country. It is possible if we come together. All Indians irrespective of caste and religion should live with unity and strive for the development of our country.

Patriotism is something that comes from the heart. Patriotism is supporting one’s own country. Patriotism is not just waving the flag. It’s the courage to protect our country from enemies, if needed.

As John F. Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask you can do for your country”.

Freedom does not mean that we can do anything we want without regard for others. Freedom does not mean that we can earn money by hook or by crook, or we can indulge in corrupt practices. Freedom means using the opportunities that our nation provides us to do our best in whatever field we choose so that this great nation prospers.
